6x6 A Circle, Square and Foggy X-Sums

This puzzle is a follow up to my earlier puzzle 6x6 All Clues Are Given. I recommend solving that puzzle first as it includes some of the same ideas, even though the puzzles solve very differently.
Also, I have made the puzzle on an 8x8 grid so that I could use fog outside the main 6x6 grid. If any setters know a better way to do fog over X-Sums clues then please let me know in the comments.
Irregular 6x6 sudoku rules apply. Fill only the middle 6x6 area of the grid with the digits 1-6 so that each digit appears once in every row column and bold outlined region.
A digit on a circle must be less than all surrounding digits (up to 8 surrounding digits, including diagonals).
A digit on a square must be larger than all surrounding digits (up to 8 surrounding digits, including diagonals).
All possible circles and squares are given.
Foggy X-Sums: Numbers with arrows under the fog are X-Sums which show the sum of the first X digits in a row/column where X is the first digit seen.
The fog will clear when 10 digits have been correctly and logically placed in the grid. No guessing is required.

Hi! I've been trying and failing to break into this puzzle. I love all of you 6x6 puzzles but this has me stumped. Are you able to help me with a hint?
RailMan: It is a difficult puzzle and I am happy to help. Spoiler warning ahead!
Whenever a 1 is NOT on a circle then it must be diagonally adjacent to another 1. This is because of the circle rule and 'all circles are given'. If you put a 1 in the circle then where could you put a 1 in the first column? The answer is nowhere because it could never be diagonally adjacent to another 1.
You can now prove what value goes in the circle, and then place some 1's in the grid. You can use the same idea with the square and the number 6.
