WOW!
IMPRESSIVE!
SPECTACULAR!
I think it is immense sad that this masterpiece only has three solves.
Each and every deduction was well telegraphed and although it is a very hard one, it is completely logic solvable, with a good mix of islands-logic and normal sudoku logic. Very well done!
Maybe the low number of solves indeed is related to the fact that there is no solve link provided in the puzzle.
For me it doesn't matter. I am such a nobody that IS still printing puzzles to solve them with pencil.
To mitigate the comment of fuxia: Currently
- the World Sudoku Championship;
- the Grand Prix hosted by the WPF; and
- national championships
are all still held on paper. As long as I am in charge for the Dutch national championships, I will continue to solve puzzles on paper, especially to stay in touch with what the contestants are facing.
If we fast forward the film ten years, it is very well possible that championships are held with digital puzzles, but untill that time...
This type is on my list as SVS potential ever since I solved the first puzzle from matt383 a few years ago. Still I haven't spend enough time to think about a decent entry for my own version so I was eager to solve this one for inspiration.
It is still on my list, but I didn't get an idea for a trivial entry yet. :-)
Might take a while before I finally make one, but now it has become a 'bucket-lsit' issue. :-)

This is a nice series. I found Treasure Island to be the trickiest of them and Pitch Black the most approachable. Still, all three puzzles had some intricate island logic and nice interactions with Sudoku. Thanks for sharing.

If you are wondering why there are no solves for your puzzles: You have to give a link to the puzzle. It's 2025, nobody is printing out puzzles anymore.
