Ten amazed couples by Patrick Junke

Rules :

Place the set of digits [1,2,3,4,5,5,6,7,8,9] in every row and every column. (Yes, there are two fives in the set.)

To do so first draw the following labyrinth. In this labyrinth a wall is a line that separates two (horizontally or vertically) adjacent cells. The light grey clue number in a cell indicates the total of how many cells - including itself - this cell can see horizontally and vertically (from this cell perspective, cells behind walls in every horizontal or vertical directions are not visible).

Two digits separated by a wall sum to 10. (Two digits not separated by a wall don't sum to 10.)

Digits in a dotted region sum to the small total clue attached to the dotted region.

Here is a link to a SudokuPad version of the grid.

Note :

Here is a visual illustration of how the light gray numbers clues in cells work regarding to the positon of the thin walls.

Very fun! I've never solved a puzzle quite like this. The solving process goes through several distinct steps, none of which are too difficult. But attention to detail is essential to avoid mistakes. I especially liked how the different couples are finally identified.

Patrick> What a lovely comment. Thank you. Yes, a condensed logic final part after the drawing and coloring.

Enjoyed.Separating ten numbers into 5 couples and colouring each pair of them is a great fun.Very smooth logic.
