Six Sleek Snacks

(Published on 10. June 2025, 14:22 by ThePedallingPianist)

Edit: After some feedback (in the comments and through private messages), it's clear that puzzle 6 is the type you either love or you hate! I'm really pleased with how I executed the concept, and I've updated the rules to be as clear as possible, so please do give it a try! But I've changed the solution code so that it's not required.

After the success of Nine Lives, I've been meaning to publish more of the 65 puzzles I got carried away setting in response to Scojo's "snackdoku" prompt. If I'm being honest with myself, the vast majority were rather silly, and I only set them to keep up with the incredible pace set by LMDemasi. I did find six that I felt contained interesting enough ideas to be worth publishing, though they are somewhat of a random assortment!

I'm feeling hungry!

Individual links (estimated difficulty):

1. Venn Diagram (1.5/5)
2. Hop, Skip, Jump (1.5/5)
3. Counting Friends (1.5/5)
4. Rubber Doom (2/5)
5. Yo (2.5/5)
6. Kneading Doughnuts (3.5/5)

Solution code: The VALUES of the cells in row 1 of "5. Yo", left to right

Rated this based on the five that are required for the solution code. Number 6 looks like an outlier, so I don't think it's fair to judge the pack by the one puzzle that's not even required for the solution code.

5 really nice and smooth snacks with some cool logic, all which just took a few minutes to solve. And also a 6th puzzle.

Updated "6. Kneading Doughnuts", and changed the LMD page's solution code so that you don't have to solve it!

Sorry to disagree. Puzzle 6 has a much to complicated rule set for a "sleek snack". I "solved" the puzzle and had no real idea, how the copycat mechanic should work.

In puzzle 4 a more detailed explanation of the word "distance" would be nice. I had to quess where the counting starts.

TPP: Thanks for the solve and comment! I certainly agree that I have a somewhat twisted idea of "snack" (believe me, some of the "snacks" I made for Scojo's prompt were far harder than any of these!) so that's definitely a fair point!

And yes that's a good point about puzzle 4, I think I copied and pasted the ruleset from another slingshot puzzle. I'm at work but I'll try and remember to fix the wording when I'm back :)

Thanks a lot! I like your improvements.

Fun fun fun. In the last puzzle it was not clear to me at first that the center must be the same for all copycats. The puzzles are sorted in fun order. The last beeing the best. Great fun thx.
