Beyond the Grid

(Eingestellt am 8. Juni 2025, 23:03 Uhr von Pychael)

A pack of four puzzles for those more familiar with the Doppelganger ruleset, created by Kafkapharnaum, who has made a great tutorial to the ruleset, and I highly encourage looking here first if you are new to the ruleset.
Additionally, The Book Wyrm also has a pack of Doppelganger puzzles that utilize the tracker cells in larger grids. So, if you enjoyed these, I also recommend checking this pack out as well: A Map to Distant Lands

Huge thanks to Chet Chetterson, Chrisj50, and all the others in Discord that have tested these puzzles and given feedback,
including some who are also active here on LMD:

and of course, Kafkapharnaum.

RULES

DOPPELGANGER
For each grid:
- Every row, column, and box contains the digit 0 always, as well as three out of the four digits from 1 to 4 (ie, it's missing a digit that is not 0).
- No two rows, no two columns, and no two boxes may be missing the same digit.
- For each 0 in the grid, the digits missing in its row, its column, and its box must be three different digits, yet zeros always have a null value (ie, zero).
- Cells outside of the 4x4 grid hold the digit missing from the respective row, column, or box, as shown in the three examples below.

PUZZLE SPECIFIC RULES
Each grid's specific rules can be found underneath it's grid, or referenced on the Sudokupad page for each puzzle

(Click each to play on Sudokupad)

KILLER CAGES

- Digits in cages must sum to the number in the top-left corner and cannot repeat.

DOUBLE ARROWS

- The sum of the digits along a ‘double arrow’ line is equal to the sum of the digits in the circles at either end of the line.

KROPKI DOTS

- Cells with a white dot between them are consecutive
- Cells with a black dot between them are in a 1:2 ratio

EVEN SQUARES

- Cells with gray squares are even

SKYSCRAPERS

- Each digit in the grid represents the height of a building in its cell.
- Taller buildings obstruct the view of shorter ones behind them.
- Clues outside the grid give the number of buildings visible from that vantage point in the clue's row or column. (including the tracker cells)

Lösungscode: Row 1 of the main 4x4 grid of each puzzle in the order that they appear above, no spaces (Cellmates > 405° > A Pair of Paired Pairs > As Easy As)

Surprising little mindbenders. Thanks

Brilliant pack! All the puzzles were very creatively designed. My favorite is "a Pair of Paired Pairs", with the deduction in the top band.

Got to say, I'm a bit jealous now, as these are already better than my 4x4's :)

Just resolved the first three as I had lost my solutions for them, and wow, what amazing and very creative puzzles, and some of them quite tricky too for such small grids!
Good move swapping versions for 405, as the other version was quite the meanie, and so now *A Pair of Paired Pairs* is definitely the hardest, involving a number of discovery-type deductions to turn into a smooth one, such that it could also have been a worthy standalone puzzle, but well worth the effort as it will make solving any other of these feel so much more natural. Very well done!

swapped 405 to be the much more approachable Double Arrow version
