More Variety (6x6 Sudoku Pack)

(Published on 6. June 2025, 19:06 by Florian Wortmann)

It's June 6th again and you know what that means :-)

The series so far:

2022: Trinity
2023: Duality
2024: Variety

Please find detailled rules and links to SudokuPad below the images. Happy solving!

1) Losing my Religion

● Normal 6x6 sudoku rules apply, and digits may not repeat on the marked diagonal.
● Box borders divide each blue line into segments with the same sum.
● Digits joined by a white dot are consecutive. Digits joined by a black dot are in a 1:2 ratio. Not all dots are neccessarily given.

2) Double Arrow X-Sums

● Normal 6x6 sudoku rules apply.
● The sum of the digits along a line is equal to the sum of the numbers in the circles at either end of the line.
● A clue outside the grid is the sum of the first X cells in the corresponding direction, where X is the digit in the cell next to the clue.

3) Stool inspired by ICHTUES

● Normal 6x6 sudoku rules apply.
● Digits along an arrow sum to the digit in the corresponding circle.
● A clue outside the grid is the sum of the digits sandwiched between the 1 and the 6 in the corresponding row/column.

4) Region Sum Doubler

● Normal 6x6 sudoku rules apply.
● Box borders divide each blue line into segments with the same sum.
● Each row, column and box contains a doubler. For the purpose of the region sum line, the digit in a doubler counts as twice its value. Each digit appears exactly once in a doubled cell.

5) Auberge chaotique

● Divide the grid into regions, each consisting of six orthogonally connected cells. Each row, column and region contains the digits 1-6 once each. The region border between r5c4 and r5c5 has been given.
● A clue outside the grid indicates the digit to be placed in the Nth cell in the corresponding direction, where N is the digit nearest to the clue.
● In addition, in every row or column with a clue, the digit N indicates that the first N cells (from the clue's direction of view) are in the same region, and the N+1th cell is in a different region.
● The ?-clues also have the region building property but the digits (to be placed in the Nth cell) are unknown.

6) Frecce nel cielo

● Divide the grid into regions, each consisting of six orthogonally connected cells. Each row, column and region contains the digits 1-6 once each.
● All cells of an arrow are in the same region, which must be different to the region that the corresponding circle is in.
● Digits along an arrow sum to the digit in the corresponding circle.

Solution code: row 2 of each 6x6 grid (puzzles 1-6 in order, 36 digits)

This felt like a bit of an inconsistent pack, as the last two puzzles were of a completely different level and quite a different style from the other four.

There also weren't really a lot of connecting themes between the puzzles. It feels to me that they would be better served as separate puzzles, which could then be solved and rated individually as well.

The first four I would probably rate 1 or 2 star difficulty, and 'very nice', but I honestly can't say that about the last two, so I can't say that about the pack as a whole either.

To me p5 is the hardest followed by p4. Solve all was 3* to me. I liked p4 the most. Great pack. Thx for sharing.

Great variety pack. I found no 5 a bit tricky but the rest were very smooth. Thanks!

Enjoyed!
The description of the last puzzle mentions 9 orthogonally connected cells while this is obviously just 6
