Kropki Palindromes

(Published on 5. June 2025, 17:26 by Srinidhi Kabra)

Hello Everyone! I am experimenting with a new ruleset, of a perfectly symmetrical sudoku. While this is mathematically imposslbe in a 9x9 grid, it is very much possible in a 6x6 grid. I plan on creating more puzzles with this ruleset, I hope this puzzle would serve as an introduction. The puzzle is designed to be easy and accessible to people new to variant sudokus! This is the second puzzle I have designed, I hope that you enjoy it.

You can play the sudoku on this link : sudokupad

Rules are as following,

Normal 6x6 sudoku rules apply.

Kropki : Cells seperated by a black dot must contain digits in 2:1 ratio. Cells seperated by white dot must be consecutive.

When the sudoku is rotated by 180 degrees, the digits of the sudoku are identical.

Solution code: Row 4 followed by column 4 (without any spaces)

You can have a perfectly symmetrical puzzles in all sizes with an even length. I've recently posted an 8x8 that is a bit more challenging: https://logic-masters.de/Raetselportal/Raetsel/zeigen.php?id=000N2T
I'm just not sure there's much to explore.

Srinidhi Kabra : Yes, I agree that for all even lengths one can have symmetric sudokus. I was comparing this to the standard 9x9 sudoku. In particular I haven't seen any sudokus which make use of the symmetry of the grid. Which is what lead me to construct this one. I have build a more intricate ruleset since, and made a more difficult puzzle. You can find it here : https://logic-masters.de/Raetselportal/Raetsel/zeigen.php?id=000NOC
