Dutch-German Battle

(Published on 30. April 2025, 07:43 by certifiedpaintfreak)

Normal Sudoku rules apply.

Fog covers the grid. A correct input will clear the fog in the surrounding cells. No guessing required.

Adjacent digits on German Whisper (green) lines must differ by at least 5.

Adjacent digits on Dutch Whisper (orange) lines must differ by at least 4.

Box borders divide blue line segments into the same sum. There is only ONE blue line.

Only the number 5 has an anti-knight constraint ie all 5's cannot be a knight's move away from any other 5. Also, all orthogonal neighboring cells to 5's must add up to at least the value which the center box's 5 has ie if the center box’s 5 has orthogonal neighbors that add up to 10, then all 5s’ orthogonal neighbors must sum to or surpass 10.

Digits increase from a thermometer's bulb.

Digits on arrows sum to the circle attached to them.

Digits separated by x's add to 10.

Digits separated by white dots are consecutive.

Digits separated by black dots have a 1:2 ratio.

Everything is quite nice except...

I don't understand this rule "all orthogonal neighboring cells to 5's must add up to at least the value which the center box's 5 has"..

So the last bit was a guess.

Sweet puzzle but I did end up with a deadly pattern of 1's and 2's in the end.

Nice puzzle but the 5 criterion was a bit confusing. Having said that, I cannot think of how to improve its description!

Fun puzzle, except at the end, unwinding 6/7/8/9, the 78 pair in box 1, 789 in box 2, 6789 in box 8, and 69 in box 9, I don't believe there was a logical resolve. I had to try one option of the 8/9 in b2c5, and it didn't resolve, but I thought was correct per the ruleset, then went the other path and it confirmed. Maybe I missed some detail, but believe I had double checked. Maybe if that Box 2 line was a German instead of Dutch line?
