This puzzle is dedicated to Marty Sears, to whom I am indebted for providing me with encouragement and camaraderie when I was just getting started. It takes inspiration from his incredibly popular Rat Run puzzles (if you somehow haven't already, go solve them; you won't be disappointed). I hope the narrative journey woven into this puzzle will afford him a small fraction of the a-maze-ment he's shared with us over the past year--and I hope everyone else will forgive me for the length of the rules.



Normal Sudoku rules apply.

Theseus has traveled from Athens to Crete to end the Cretan reign of terror by slaying Asterion, a half-man half-bull who, as a child, was imprisoned in the Labyrinth by his cruel father King Minos.

Help Theseus and Asterion reach the center of the Labyrinth. What happens there is up to you to discover, but whoever survives this encounter must then reach the exit door in the lower right, and escape (this door must be passed through to solve the puzzle).

MOVEMENT - A character may not enter a cell he has already entered, cross his own path, or pass through grey walls (including small wall squares). As well as moving orthogonally, characters may move diagonally if there's space in which to do so. The two characters don't enter the same cell before meeting at the center of the grid.

DOORS - Doors can only be passed through after all the matching circular buttons have been stepped on.

SAME DIFFERENCE - Theseus' path is cut into segments by doors he goes through. Pairs of adjacent digits along a segment have the same difference (which may be different for different segments).

PARITY LINE - Pairs of adjacent digits along Asterion's path have one even and one odd digit.

URNS - Digits separated by an urn sum to 6.
