Three by Three in the Fog

Three by Three in the Fog

Normal Sudoku rules do not apply.

Place the digits from 1-9 in the grid so that they do not repeat in any row or column. Digits can (and will) repeat in each 3x3 box. Each box will use exactly 3 of the digits from 1-9.

Cells that are orthogonally adjacent cells cannot contain consecutive digits.

Arrows: Digits along an arrow sum the the number in that arrows circle.

Some of the grid is covered by fog, placing correct digits will clear surrounding fog, no guesses are required.

Trivial to solve once you understand the core mechanic.

However cracking the game mechanic from first principles was non-trivial.

It took a little to get familiar with the ruleset. But then it was quite straight solvable. As an introduction for this kind of puzzles really nice. Thank you.

I had never seen this ruleset. It's a very cool idea that leads to different deductions. And it interacts in interesting way with the other rules.

I rated this 1/5 difficulty

Neat puzzle! I've never seen (or attempted) this ruleset before, but it was enjoyable and interesting. I liked the use of fog & arrows to create the solve path and "introduce" me to the ruleset.

It took me a minute or two to figure out the rules and understand how the break-in worked, but once I spotted/realized some logic, the rest of my solve flowed smoothly.

I think the actual logical difficulty was around 1* (maybe on the harder end), and should be approachable for most solvers. The hardest part for me was figuring out how the ruleset worked - but once they 'clicked' in my mind the rest of the puzzle was fairly straightforward/easy.

Overall this was a very nice puzzle! Thanks for sharing!

Fun! Took me a little bit to wrap my brain around the different ruleset, but once it clicked, it flowed so nicely. Thank you!
