Rules:
Sudoku - place digits from 1-9 into each cell without repeating in a row, column, or 3x3 box.
Thermometers - Along a gray thermometer line, digits increase from the bulb to the tip.

I'm very unsure how to break into this puzzle. Anyone have advice? Is there a Crack the Cryptic video that might help? I'm afraid the clue about roping hasn't led me to an answer.

This puzzle reminds me of a math teacher who said he can always come up with a formula true for integers 1 to N, and false for the N+1, regardless how big N is.

I am still solving the full Digits of Despair puzzle, but seeing this boss again brought me a smile. I did find it harder than most 2* puzzles but that might just be my bad scanning. This puzzle on its own is already great, but I truely love the full sudokuvania puzzle!

Before learning solving strategies from "Cracking the Cryptic", this would have been "unsolvable" to me. Nicely constructed!
