Chaos Borders

Rules:
Irregular sudoku rules apply.
Place the digits 1-9 once each in every row, column and region.
There are nine regions in the grid that must be located by the solver.
A digit in a cell with arrows counts the total number of region borders seen in the direction(s) pointed to. The outlines of the grid do not count. Cells with two arrows adds up the the count from both directions.
Region borders separate lines into segments with the same sum.

Phew, the late midsolve was tough indeed. Took me ages to spot the deduction that unlocked it all. Thanks :)

Started off smooth and fun, but the midsolve was brutally difficult for me. I think I was missing something

Great puzzle! Accessible for CC but hardly trivial. I think this deserves a higher rating than 88%. The region building and arrow clues fall relatively smoothly, but there's still a good irregular puzzle left after, and the RSL combination always goes so well with CC, and this is no exception. Great work. Thank you!!

Awesome puzzle. Long time since I spent 90 minutes on a puzzle. Worth every second. I go with 4.5*. Thanks for sharing.

Are all lines divided into at least two segments or is that up to the solver to find out?

Lovely Puzzle. The back-and-forth logic of the region sums and mystery borders is original and fun. The challenge is consistently pleasing from beginning to end!
