A Dreary Day for a Picnic

(Eingestellt am 31. März 2025, 22:20 Uhr von Zinger2099)

This is the first Sudoku I have ever made. :) I would be remiss if I didn't mention that I started building this live on Twitch, with some notable help from marty_sears, Scojo, and Isaiah. Feedback is greatly appreciated.

RED and BLUE are seated at a green picnic table for lunch, with a foot-long submarine sandwich to share between them. After taking a few bites each (making sure they both ate the SAME amount), the weather shifts, and fog blankets the park. Fearing rain, they decide to cancel lunch. Blue offers to let Red have the rest of the sandwich. How much of the leftover sandwich does Red take home?

==================================

Normal Sudoku rules apply (each row, column, and 3x3 box must contain the digits 1-9 exactly once).

The park is obscured by a Fog (correctly placed digits clear the fog from their cell and all surrounding cells; no guessing is required).

The red and blue Thermometers represent the two friends (digits strictly increase along a thermometer starting from the bulb). Additional grey thermometers exist in the fog.

The green picnic table is a single orthogonally connected German Whisper Line (adjacent digits along the green line must differ by at least 5).

The sandwich on the table follows the rules for Sandwich Sudoku (all digits between 1 and 9 along their row must sum to the given clue outside of the board). The clue is the original length of the foot-long sub, except the clue is now inaccurate because some of it has been eaten. You must work out how much of the sandwich is left over to determine the reduced value of the clue. There is a single-cell cage on the blue thermometer; this cage reveals how many inches of the sandwich Blue ate (remember, Blue ate the same amount as Red).

Also, note that the sandwich DOES NOT CROSS the red or blue thermometers.

Lösungscode: The 5 digits between the red and blue thermometers on row 3, from left to right.

the hardest thing here is finding the n-tuple, where n is the number in question

Awesome puzzle! The imagery is so strong with this, I really got a kick out of it. I couldn't believe how well the puzzle held on to its secrets even after the first few digits were placed. It really goes to show how much care was taken when you were setting it, keep up the great work!
