I've been lazy about publishing recently, but finally decided to get around to this one, which I thought was pretty cute. I hope you like it!
Rules:
- Shade some empty cells and then draw a single closed loop (without intersections or crossings) through all remaining empty cells. Shaded cells cannot be orthogonally adjacent to one another. Neither clued nor shaded cells may be part of the loop. A clued cell inside the grid indicates the number of shaded cells in the direction of its arrow.
- Clues outside the grid indicate the lengths of runs of unshaded empty cells (i.e. the cells which the loop passes through) in its respective row or column, in the correct order.
- The letters A-E each replace a unique integer value. An asterisk indicates obscured information; in place of an asterisk may be zero, one, or multiple groups of numbers.
The puzzle:
Solve on Penpa+ (answer check on line only)
Solve on SudokuPad (no answer check)
Solution code: For every row from top to bottom, the number of shaded cells in that row (this does not include clued cells)

I feel stupid here - what's the rule regarding the clues inside the puzzle? Is that given somewhere?

It wasn't, sorry! Fixed now :)
