Rules
Normal sudoku rules apply.
Digits on thermometers increase from the bulb.
A clue outside the grid shows the sum of the digits sandwiched between the 1 and the 9 in that row/column.
Star battle: the digits 1 and 9 act as stars; no star can touch another, even diagonally.
Draw a one-cell-wide loop of orthogonally connected cells. The loop may not touch itself, not even diagonally.
Stars and thermometers are not on the loop; the two given digits are on the loop.
Box borders divide the loop into renban segments: digits on a segment form a consecutive sequence in any order.

Nicely set, in a combination I haven‘t seen before. Probably because of this, it indeed felt more like a 3* puzzle. Thanks for sharing.

I found the starbattle-loop portion pretty challenging. Very nice!
