I did use phistomefel for one digit that I couldn't see any other way to get, but then I proceeded to stare at it too much..

Very nice, enjoyable sudoku with a bit of challenge. The Missing Deck Puzzles and archive are a treasure. I go there every day for a new puzzle.

in order to keep this puzzle at a legitimate level 2, work the basic sudoku hard early on. this may be forgotten, with the large number of clues.
phistomefel, which seems "obvious", is a red herring here.
anything more than minimal pencil marking will be non-productive.
