Triptych
Trying out something a little different. Rules are below the image.
- Normal sudoku rules MOSTLY apply. Digits must not repeat in any row or column.
- The grid is divided into three “panels” marked by the thick black lines. Each panel has its own set of constraints, listed below. Digits will repeat within each panel.
- The left panel has anti-knight and anti-king constraints: cells separated by a knights move or a kings move in chess cannot contain the same digits.
- The centre panel has a non-consecutive constraint: cells that are orthogonally connected cannot contain consecutive digits.
- The right panel has an anti-XV sums constraint: cells that are orthogonally connected cannot sum to 5 or 10.
(Clarification: the above constraints only apply within each panel, not between panels. So, for example, a digit in the left panel may be a knights move away from the same digit in the centre panel; or a digit in the centre panel may sum to 10 or be consecutive with an orthogonally connected cell in the right panel.)
- Thermometers: Along thermometers, the digits must increase starting from the bulb.
- Arrows: Digits along an arrow sum to the digit in the connected circled cell. Digits may repeat on an arrow if allowed by other rules.
- Cells with a grey square contain an even digit. Cells with a grey circle contain an odd digit (the thermometer bulb doesn't count as a grey circle and may be even or odd).
