Logic solvable
Cloned Inequality
Inspiration for this type comes from WSC2024.
Solve online in Penpa+ or in Sudokupad.
Like all of my sudoku variants, this puzzle can be solved by logic alone. Guessing is not required and also no sophisticated solving techniques are necessary; just plain and easy sudoku steps and of course the intrinsic logic this specific variant has to offer. In case you don't find that logic or get stuck, feel free to ask for a hint in the comments below this puzzle and I'll be happy to help you.
Apply classic sudoku rules.
There are some cloned shaded regions in the grid that have the same shape, without rotating or reflecting. The inequality signs (greater or smaller) between each pair of horizontally or vertically adjacent digits is the same at all other relative positions in each cloned region that has the same shape. Within each cloned region digits may be repeated.
Solution code: Column 9

What a clever rule! And not too hard to keep track of which boxes have which relationship (though I maybe should've done it on penpa for more kinds of markings).

Reply: thanks for your comment! I am a stubborn pencil+paper solver myself, so I can imagine the lack of notation tools in Sudokupad. :)

I was quite stuck at the start but what a masterful approach to this novel rule set!
