X - Each X inside the grid separates two digits that sum to 10.
X-SUMS - Each x outside the grid indicates that the first N cells from the direction of the clue sum to x, where N is the first digit seen. The value of x must be determined by the solver.

Hmm, not sure how much I enjoyed this one honestly. It's basically just a bunch of case-checking to work out the value of X, and then the rest of the puzzle solves easily after that.
Pretty interesting, and impressive aesthetics and impressive that you got this to work, but not the most enjoyable solve for me.

I'm pretty bad at arithmetic, so I often avoid puzzles that need it. I'm really glad I stuck this out, because it is *quite* lovely!
