- Place lights into some empty cells so that all empty cells are illuminated.
- Lights illuminate the cell they occupy and all empty cells in a straight vertical or horizontal line from that cell, up to the first shaded cell.
- Two lights may not illuminate each other.
- Number clues in shaded cells indicate the number of lights to be placed in the (up to) four cells horizontally adjacent to the clue.
