These Aren't The Circles You're Looking For

(Published on 7. August 2024, 00:02 by Jay Dyer)

A bit of a twist on the counting circles rule that appeared recently.

Rules

  • Normal sudoku rules apply.
  • Shade some cells such that, if a digit N appears in a shaded cell, it appears in exactly N shaded cells. The digit in a circle equals the sum of all shaded cells in the 3x3 area centered on the circle.
  • The digit on the grey square is even.

Another cracker from Jay, her puzzles really are top drawer, and also not (all) monstrously difficult. You just have to have the right thoughts - I suppose you could say that about any puzzle though. On a couple of occasions I had the wrong thought as forgot the rules and had to backtrack slightly.
