Marmoset

(Published on 2. July 2024, 16:05 by jwsinclair)

Marmoset, by James Sinclair

Normal sudoku rules apply, and all clues are standard.
Arrows: the sum of the digits along an arrow is equal to the digit in the connected circle, and these digits can repeat if allowed by other rules.
Palindromes: gray lines are palindromes, which contain the same sequence of digits in either direction.
Digits in cells separated by an X sum to 10.
Digits in cells with a shaded circle must be odd.

The 5 star rating put me off until I was assured that this wasn't as monstrously hard as it might seem. The recommendation was right, if you think about the puzzle the right way it is really not too bad with a lovely consistent flow. 54 minutes.

I would love to see someone solve this since I cannot. I managed through very complicated methods to place exactly one digit.

unlike @sorryimlate I found the break-in in about 10mins (the first 16 digits or so). Then proceeded to spend a full hour on the rest because I think there's just nothing but micro adjusting of pencilmarks(high chance I missed some easier way). Stuff was quite hard to spot :) I really enjoyed it. Thank you for setting @jwsinclair!

Wow, that beautiful break-in was hard to find, but all the more satisfying. And it didn't get much easier afterwards. Amazing puzzle!

Lovely break-in and a fascinating (and consistent) solve afterwards with some sweet interactions. I had quite lots of fun there :)

So elegant and satisfying to solve! Really impressive construction as always! I was so excited after solving this that my dad asked "what big puzzle did you solve today?" xD
