Fillomignon

(Eingestellt am 16. März 2024, 17:26 Uhr von Jeet Sampat)

Rules:

Fog: The grid is covered in fog that hides cells underneath. Placing correct digits will reveal surrounding cells.

Fillomino: Divide the grid into orthogonally connected regions of size at most 9 so that no two orthogonally adjacent regions have the same size. In each cell, insert the size of the region containing it.

Stakeout Circles: Cells that share a white circle must belong to different regions, and the corresponding regions must share at most one edge. Digits surrounding a white circle must sum to the clue inside the circle.

Try it on Sudokupad.

Puzzle:

Lösungscode: Row 4 (left to right) and column 7 (top to bottom); 24 digits, no spaces.

Definitely one of the best fillominos I’ve done. I had a pretty steady pace throughout, but was stumped every once in a while, partly because I was silly and didn’t know where to look for the next break in and partly because I’m bad at fillominos. Great puzzle! It’s also a very satisfying solve.

Jeet: Thanks for the kind words! I am genuinely surprised that this is my lowest rated puzzle by quite a margin lol. Not that it matters, but I thought this was one of my better puzzles. Glad you got the same kind of kick from it as I did :)

I’m confused by the “share one edge” rule. If there’s an edge that lasts more than one cell, is that okay? For instance, if R5C6 extends up to R4C6, can R5C7 extend up as well? That’s two cells that are connected, but it’s the same “edge” as it hasn’t curved.

Jeet: No, that is not allowed. By "at most one edge", I meant that a 1-cell long edge is the maximum those regions can share.
