Each city (3x3 box) obeys *exactly* one of the following laws:

RENBAN - Digits on the line form a consecutive set.
NABNER - No two digits anywhere on the line are consecutive.
THERMO - Digits increase along the line.
WHISPER - Adjacent digits on the line differ by at least five.

A digit in a city's square shows how many cities obey its law.

Beautiful! That was incredibly challenging for me, even once I understood the ruleset.

I was completely stuck in mid-way even though I read the comments before trying the puzzle. Thank god, after many minutes of staring at the puzzles and reading the comments again and again, I was able to 'completely' understand the comments.

Great one! Found it easier than initially expected, maybe because I understood the full ruleset right away

Great puzzle! I actually gave up completely until reading drbs' comment helped me figure out how to think next.

I really want to try this puzzle but am confused by the final rule. I’ve made the first deduction but don’t think I can make the second deduction till I understand the rule about the square.

juggler: example: if a 3x3 box has a line that is a valid thermo, and the square symbol in that 3x3 box has a 6, then exactly 6 3x3 boxes would have a valid thermo. hope that helps!

drbs has *nailed* it on the head for me too. Great puzzle and very approachable even if it doesn't seem so at first blush.

I am of *exactly* the same opinion as drbs on this puzzle ;)

Certainly, this is a remarkably intricate puzzle, requiring careful attention to numerous details, including the initial sentence of the rules.
