Double The Clues, Double The Fun

(Eingestellt am 29. Februar 2024, 15:42 Uhr von ThePedallingPianist)

EDIT: If you cannot find a unique solution to any puzzle on this website, I - and I'm sure any other constructor - would happily welcome a preferably hidden comment explaining that you're stuck and/or that you find some of the rules unclear. However, a public comment that states with certainty that the puzzle is broken, whilst also giving away spoilers, is unfair on the setter as it may put off other potential solvers.

Please be assured that this puzzle has been tested multiple times, not just by myself, and it does indeed have a unique solution. The part of the rules that caused most confusion was to do with the "odd" clue - I accept that "odd" is a concept rather than a number, so it's not entirely obvious what it means to "double" it. As such, I've added a line in the rules to clarify this.

---

This is my response to Scojo's setting prompt last Saturday, which was simply "doublers". Naturally, I'm too perverse to follow the prompt in a normal way, so I came up with this alternative interpretation instead. I would've loved to make a 9x9 with the "doubled clues" ruleset, but I've just not had the time this week. Still, this ended up being rather a cool puzzle anyway, so I'm satisfied!

Normal 6x6 sudoku rules apply.

Standard Killer, Kropki, Little Killer and Sandwich rules apply (explained below).

For each clue type, one of the clues is displayed as half of its true value, and must therefore be doubled before being used. For example, one of the Sandwich clues represents 14, not 7.

- Killer: digits in a cage must not repeat and must sum to the indicated value;
- Kropki: digits separated by a white dot have a difference of 1 (the "doubled" dot shows digits with a difference of 2);
- Little Killer (black): digits along an indicated diagonal sum to the given total;
- Sandwich (blue): the clue shows the sum of the digits between the 1 and 6 in that row/column.

(N.B. the word "odd" should be interpreted as "an unknown odd number")

Lösungscode: The 6 digits on the diagonal marked "odd", from top left to bottom right

Sooo stuck.....sooo obvious! Yes it's a bit evil but I'm happy to have that in a sudoku puzzle, sometimes... Very clever!

A lovely puzzle. An advice...read the rules carefully and understand the implications. If not you will easily fail (as I have done twice)
