Slitherlink Akari Pentomino Partial Latin Square With Ciphered Clues

(Eingestellt am 2. Dezember 2023, 17:42 Uhr von filuta)

Hi everyone, sadly, I don't have too much time for puzzles these days, so I'm happy I can share with all of you at least this puzzle I made for last year's Secret Satan event organised by Gliperal. The puzzle was made as a gift for Aaronomys who graciously agreed for it to be shared here as well.
The ruleset of the puzzle was partially inspired by this puzzle by KNT. In case you would like to check out some other creations that were made for the same event you can click this link. Finally, enormous thanks to polar, Andrewsarchus and Samish for their testing and feedback.

Have fun solving the puzzle!
Rules:

-(digits) Place digits 0 to 3 in the grid such that every column and every row contains each of those digits exactly once, the rest of the cells remain empty.
-(pentomino) Divide the grid into pentominoes such that no two pentominoes of the same shape (up to a rotation or reflection) touch orthogonally and no pentomino contains repeated digits.
-(loop) Draw a simple loop through the edges such that every pentomino is either fully inside the loop, or fully outside the loop.
-(slitherlink) Each digit 1, 2 and 3 in the grid and each digit 0 outside the loop is a valid slitherlink clue for the loop (i.e. it indicates how many neighboured edges are visited by the loop).
-(akari) Digits 0 inside the loop make a valid akari illumination of the interior of the loop (see below).
-(ciphered clues) Each letter in the corner of a cell represents either:
(1) a unique pentomino shape (up to a rotation or reflection), of which the clued cell must be part of,
or (2) a unique digit contained in the clued cell.
Note that a cell with a pentomino clue may still contain a digit.

Akari rules for this puzzle:
-Place lights in each cell inside the loop containing digit 0.
-Lights illuminate the cell they are in as well as all cells seen in a straight line horizontally or vertically up to the first segment of the loop.
-Lights may not illuminate each other and must illuminate all cells inside the loop.

You can solve the puzzle online using this penpa link.
To trigger the answer check you have to:
-input the correct digits into the grid as well as the cryptic clues table (but not the letters),
-draw the edges of all the pentominoes,
-shade the exterior of the loop.

Lösungscode: row 5 then column 8 - write I/E for an empty cell in the interior/exterior of the loop, B for pentomino border (excluding edges of the grid), for a cell with a digit write that digit

Have I ever finished this puzzle myself? The devil’s now tormenting my memories.
Here’s one he won’t take away: it was an incredible puzzle and ruleset and a great pleasure to try it! =)

What a fabulous puzzle! Every deduction is an incredible journey with small yet satisfying rewards. This took me just short of a year to solve (I wish I was kidding) but every moment spent was worth it. Learning the ruleset was like building a strong friendship (but in this case, a friendship in which the other enjoys tormenting you relentlessly).

This was certainly a perfect Christmas present, and I hope everyone enjoys it just as much as I did!

(Side note: this puzzle is very very difficult, and yet I’ve heard it’s one of Filuta’s easier ones. Yikes.)
