Scientific Fabrication (A Tribute Puzzle)

From my perspective, the first half is rather intricate throughout and requires one to figure out certain things, but the second half should be smoother and act as proper rewards for everyone. Therefore, difficulty may lie anywhere along the range from 3/5 to 4/5 depends on how fast one would spot the main ideas in here. I hope you find the solve fascinating overall!
Rules:
- Normal Sudoku rules apply: every row, column and 3x3 box contains digits from 1 to 9 each once.
- Digit(s) along a line that has two circles as its ends must have the same total as the total of two digits in those circles. It's possible that digits can repeat along a line.
The puzzle is divided into two versions: the hard version with the original setup like the above image, and a slightly easier version with an extra given into the original one (highlight the row right below to see the info if you want to solve the slightly easier one).

Not sure I 100% got this puzzle... My breakin was a big chain of 'if this then that'. Still, it was easy enough conceptually to hold the whole thing in my head, so you can tell the Bifurcation Police to stand down.

That was the entire point of why I decided to also add the easier version in just to reduce the amount of hard works around the break-in. It’s not entirely my fault that someone just decided to rush through the entire hard stuff without any sort of understanding when there’s an available cleaner choice to resolve the opening.
