Equality Cages 105: Palindromesemordnilap

(Eingestellt am 2. November 2023, 18:29 Uhr von gUBBLOR)

Here's puzzle number 5 in my Equality Cages series. The previous and next puzzle in the series:
Equality Cages 104: Even the lines split their sums equally
Equality Cages 106: Are you feeling the heat? Cool!

All my series:
Equality Cages
EquaLite Cages
Shifter Lines
Shifter Dots

This one is gonna be harder than the previous ones. It's really pushing the Equality Cage logic, so you may be at an advantage if you have solved some of the other puzzles. With that said there'll be some hints at the bottom of this page if you need help.

Rules:
Normal Sudoku rules apply. Place the digits 1 through 9 in each empty cell. Digits must not repeat within the same row, column, or box.

Equality cages: Cages must have an equal number of low (1,2,3,4) and high (6,7,8,9) digits AND an equal number of even (2,4,6,8) and odd (1,3,7,9) digits. Equality cages can never contain 5. Digits may not repeat in a cage.

Kropki dots: A black dot between cells indicates cell values with a 2:1 ratio. A white dot between cells indicates cells with consecutive values. Not all dots are shown.

X: Adjacent cells connected with an X must sum to 10. Not all X's are shown.

Palindromes: Digits along a palindrome line read the same forwards or backwards. Palindromes never branch, so if lines are crossing each other that means they are different lines.

Help:
In order to look at the hints below, highlight the text (which is written in white).

Fact: There are 4 different groups of digits that can go in to an Equality Cage; low odd (1+3), low even (2+4), high even (6+8), high odd (7+9).
Hint 1: You should do some coloring in row 1-3 (digits, not groupings).
Hint 2: Let's say R2C3+R3C4 is color 1, R3C3+R1C5 is color 2, and R1C6+R2C7 is color 3. R2C4 has to be a 4th color. Regardless of what grouping color 1 is, both color 2 and 4 has to be the opposite.
Hint 3: Because of the cage in R1C56 we know that color 2 and 3 are also opposite from each other. Ergo, we know that color 1/3 fills one group, and 2/4 fills another. With this knowledge there should only be one way to color R1C7. There's also just one possible way to color R12C8.
Hint 4: Excellent choice of color for color 3 and 4! They pair up really well together!
Hint 5: Both color 2 and 4 appears in the cage in box 6. So which are the other two colors?
Hint 6: The empty cage in box 9 have to contain the remaining two groups. The cell in the middle of the kropki dots can only be 2 things. Regardless of which it is, the group is the same. You should now know exactly which 4 digits can go in that cage, which obviously means you know which 4 digits can go in color 1-4.
Hint 7: At this point you should be able to fully color several boxes.
Hint 8: What can you learn from box 1?

Lösungscode: Row 2 left to right and column 9 top to bottom - no spaces.

Very satisfying. Had me thinking "Am I doing this right?" for most of the solving.

A very nice sudoku. Thank you for the hints, I learned about colouring. Two stars for me with it.

This was by far the hardest of the series I've solved so far (didn't use any of the hints), but it also had the most interesting logic surrounding the equality cages. Thanks!
