Schrödinger's Foggy Rationale (FOW)

(Published on 12. October 2023, 18:58 by gdc)

My second schrödinger sudoku. This time, I went for something approachable. According to testers on the CtC-fan-discord (thanks everyone!), this should be a 2 star and suitable for solvers that are not familiar with S-cells.

  • The grid is partially covered in fog. Placing correct digits reveals clues in the surrounding 3 by 3 area.
  • "Normal" Schrödinger rules apply: Place the digits 0-9 once each in every row, column and box. Two of the digits will have to share a Schrödinger Cell (S-cell). Each row, column and box contains exactly one S-Cell.
  • S-Cells count as the sum of their digits for all clues.
  • Digits joined by a black dot are in a 1:2 ratio i.e. one is double the other. Not all dots are necessarily given.

Is there any way to place a digit to S-cell?

This was my first S-cell puzzle. My brain wasn't braining at first but the solution checker really saved my life. Great puzzle tho

As cascadeshiker mentioned, this was a phenomenal puzzle to serve as my first introduction to S-cells. The FOW and unique usage of black dots helped make it a delight! Great puzzle, thank you.

Thank you for this nice puzzle, gdc! I have not too much experience with Schrödinger cells, but found the puzzle approachable and the logic very clear-cut. Already the starting grid is aesthetically pleasing and the walk through the fog has been very entertaining. Thank you for setting and sharing!

Thanks @ViKingPrime! Surprisingly, the addition of fog made scanning and telegraphing much easier.

Beautiful follow-up! S-cells seem like such a fun addition to Fog of War puzzles.

This is an especially good starting place for anyone interested in either constraint.
