De l'autre côté... [9x9 mirrored digits]

(Eingestellt am 5. September 2023, 08:32 Uhr von Christounet)

"I'm sure those are not the right digits" said poor Alice.

I started playing with this new constraint while I was setting a big puzzle with linked grids and modifiers that I will publish soon. I realized it was actually a very nice rule to play with on its own, so I set two killer puzzles with it. You might want to try the easier 6x6 puzzle first if you have trouble figuring out this new rule. This one is a bit more challenging but nothing monstrously hard, it just messes with you brain a little with the twisty arithmetics :) Estimated difficulty 3-4/5.

To my knowledge, this rule has never been used before, at least not after I searched LMD with various keywords. But it might have been used under a different name. Let me know in the comments if you are aware of any such puzzle !

The puzzle :

Play on Sudokupad

Rules :

- Normal 9×9 sudoku rules apply.

- Killer : The values of the cells in a cage must sum to the total in the top left corner. Digits may not repeat in cages (but values may repeat).

- Mirrored digits : In every row, column and box, is a mirrored digit. It takes the value opposite to its own value on the 1-9 scale. (In other words, 1 takes the value of 9, 2 the value of 8... 9 the value of 1) Each digit 1-9 is mirrored once.

Enjoy ! And consider leaving a comment if you appreciate the puzzle !

You can check out my other puzzles here if you liked this one.

Excellent puzzle! It's amazing how much logic you were able to squeeze in with the thematic 16 cages.

Very elegant puzzle! I got stuck on this for a while yesterday because of an arithmetic error but redoing it today the logic was as clear as a mirror :)
---
@tesseralis : Thanks ! Arithmetic errors are easy to make with those mirrored digits. Happened to me a couple times while setting these puzzles. I even had a "finished" grid with a really cool ending, until I realized I had made a 17-cage instead af a 16... Frustration...

There's this one or two spots around two 6-cell 16 cages and column 5 that's so miraculous that it's kind of unreal to me (oh, and how the puzzle actually resolved at the end too) xD
Overall, a lovely puzzle throughout with plenty of cool aha moments :)

@Playmaker6174 : Thanks :) It was really nice for me too to find the configuration of cages that allowed me to use the logic that was intended in the spots you mentioned.

I love this puzzle so much! Once I got my head around it, it is quite straight forward.
---
@samuel1997 : Thanks for your very warm comments on my puzzles, this is the kind of feedback that keeps my motivation high. Indeed, nothing too hard here once you get the implication of the arithmetics and find a couple weak spots.

This definitely deserves its (at least current) 100% rating in my opinion. I am genuinely surprised at how different this is from doublers. Keep it up!

@Silverscree : Thanks ! If you enjoyed this one, do check out the 6x6 I published before that, I think you might like it as well.

This new constraint definitely has some legs. Keep 'em coming!

@ViKingPrime : Yes, it does. Works nicely with RSL as you'll soon find out :)

A very sweet little sixteen puzzle. In the end my head was nearly broken, but I love this new mirror rule!
---
@Franjo : Thanks :) "Sweet sixteen" was actually a title that was suggested by one tester, but I settled for the french version of Alice through the looking glass.
