mirror skyscraper

These puzzles don’t have a link, feel free to skip my puzzle, you won’t miss anything.

Standard sudoku rules applies. Fill the grid with numbers from 1 to 6 so each digit occurs exactly once in every row, column and 2x3 box.

Every digit inside the grid is either a skyscraper, the height of which is defined by the value of the digit, or a mirror, with the placement of which is shown in lines.

Outside clues indicate the number of buildings(not includes mirrors) one can see from that direction, with higher buildings blocks the view of lower buildings. A mirror reflects lights on both side and is tall enough to block every building behind.

In case anybody ask, no, i did not use slant. I only use its aesthetic. It seems that no loop is more pleasing to most of the people.

I guess many have the question on how did i do it. Old Miles try it but only success in 4X4 with loops. I think that means it is hard to program it. So how did i do it. Simple, i just need to figure out which comes first, another reason why i can’t use a slant grid. Yes, i actually do it in every empty cell, all 20 of them. It is definitely worth my effort, especially when i see Old Miles solve it for 4 hours and is willing to try to set one. Skyscraper is not an easy job for software, otherwise i wouldn’t be a setter to compensate this.

About this variant, well, mirrors inside skyscraper is an vary old idea that burns into every skyscraper setters mind. A change in view direction is very useful to disable a lot of skyscraper trick. However, the biggest problem with this idea is that it is so hard to explain how a mirror works. There are so many details. I did think about not giving the direction of the mirror. The problem with that idea is that it is very unpredictable

Ok, this is my new thought on this puzzle. I’ve been delay this because my laptop has an input error, but i did not expect my fear to be actually true. Here’s the thing, i did not know this site from ctc or youtube like the others. I know here because some people say you have interesting sudoku variant. I’m curious to see what you have after doing so many non-sudoku puzzles. Here is the thing, Old Miles and I, we are sudoku variant oriented. Seeing people who are not rooted in sudoku set a puzzle can give me a new persepective. In my mind, this place here is a puzzle portal that encourage people to try new things. Even if i’m a sodoku setter, i’m welcome to use my experience into setting other puzzles and share it here.

but in the forum, i see solvers now actually think this is a sudoku portal, the premier place for high quality sudoku. It is stated that there are people using here as a stepping stone for elsewhere. There’s a lot of problem with this. First, i don’t know whether my puzzle is shown elsewhere i don’t know of. A lot of my posts are dedicated to here and here only. I would be very upset if people find my puzzle in the place i don’t know of. One reason why i never want a link in the first place.

Another thing is i really don’t think a sudoku setter can be better than me in variant setting. It takes a non sudoku based setter to surprise me. Also i need to find what puzzle variant i should be trying other than sudoku. But when most solvers think here as a sudoku base, i really don’t expect much from here. I already have Old Miles to talk to, and comment section usually have no debate, only empty praise and superficial suggestion to be popular.

Anyway, i’m going to post less frequently, not like anybody cares. I used to hope the whole ctc invasion is temporary and things may go back to what it used to be, guess i’m wrong. I may be more active when i sense the wind change, but until then, quite a journey.
