Lux Umbra (Anti/Quadruples, Numbered Rooms)

(Eingestellt am 4. Juli 2023, 19:00 Uhr von Crusader175)

New idea of having Quadruples / Anti-Quadruples to get information for Numbered Rooms clue.

Rules:

Normal sudoku rules apply for the 9x9 grid.

Numbered Rooms: All cells outside the grid are numbered rooms clues, to be determined by the solver. They indicate the digit which has to be placed in the Nth cell in the corresponding direction, where N is the digit placed in the first cell in that direction.

Quadruples: Digits in a white circle must appear (at least once) as a sudoku digit or as a numbered room clue in the four cells around the circle.

Anti-Quadruples: Digits in a black circle must NOT appear as a sudoku digit or as a numbered room clue in the four cells around the circle.

That was a fun ride; thanks @ Crusader 175 :).

Also, thanks for the detailed response to my query. There was no difficulty with the interpretation of the quad/anti-quad rules, but about the necessity of certain perimeter cells having a numbered room clue at all. For example, the anti-quad clue of "2" is satisfied so long as the digit 2 does not appear in any of the cells r0c6, r0c7, r1c6 and r1c7. But beyond that, the existing rule wordings (at least as I can see their meaning) nowhere stipulate that the cells r0c6 and r0c7 have to have a numbered room clue. So perhaps, you could consider adding this at the end of the first para of the rules : " All the perimeter cells surrounding a quad or anti-quad circle have to have a numbered room clue, to be determined by the solver, and subject to the conditions governing the quad/anti-quad circles as given below."

Anyways, a great puzzle. Thanks again, for setting and sharing :).

Reply: I update the rules and visual, hopefully all will be clear now. Thank you very much, I'm glad you had fun! :)

All the perimeter cells (outside the main 9x9) surrounding a quadruple or anti- quadruple circle have to necessarily have a numbered room clue ? The rules do not quite make it mandatory, but the example would seem to suggest so.

For simplicity, I would say yes?
For the Quads, you just have to make sure that the digits appear at least once whether as a sudoku digit or a numbered room clue.
For the anti-quads, it can't appear as a sudoku digit, but you also have to make sure that the two cells numbered room clues don't match the digits in the circle.
Let me know if you think I should rephrase the rules.
