FMTC

(Eingestellt am 20. Juni 2023, 21:21 Uhr von Starstorm)

Jack Lance's puzzle, FMTC converted to Penpa+, with additional rules clarification.

This is a series of logic puzzles. The goal is to draw closed loops. The loops must consist strictly of straight, vertical or horizontal segments and right angle turns.
You must infer the rules of how and where to draw the loops, which involve the grid's properties, and the shapes contained within. If you infer the correct new rule, or correct rule modification, each of the individual puzzles will have a unique solution. This means that if your rule set does not lead to a unique solution, then it is not correct.
There exists a single rule set, using which it is possible to correctly solve Sets 1-7. This means that any new rules or rule modifications you make should be consistent with your solutions of previous Sets (provided those solutions were in fact correct).

The Penpa links have answer checking, but only for green lines! Other colors won't work. The answer checking might not work in some of the puzzles due to technical reasons. If so, try drawing the very smallest of the line segments (and only those) with a different Sub option.

Set 1

Puzzle 1 Puzzle 2 Puzzle 3 Puzzle 4 Puzzle 5

Set 2

These puzzles might seem impossible or might seem to not have unique solutions.
If so, you probably have a correct, but incomplete set of rules (provided you were able to uniquely solve Set 1).

Sets 4-6 all build upon the existing rules of Sets 1-3. Feel free to do them in any order.

STOP! Don't continue until you understand the rules of Sets 1-7!

Sets A and B do not require any new or modified rules, their rules are consistent with those of Sets 1-7.

STOP! Don't continue until you understand the lessons of Sets A and B!

The rule set modifications of Set ? are not applicable to the previous sets, but you should now know enough to solve these puzzles.

Straightforward and beautiful up until 7, B is fine as well, but I have no clue what I'm supposed to learn from A. I got valid solutions for all ? puzzles, but any constraints for unambiguous solutions I apply lead to a wrong solution code.
Not sure what I'm missing here :/

Star: I'm guessing you're unable to solve Set A's puzzles with your rule set. Perhaps it's time to reconsider the basics back in Set 1... it might provide some new insights.

The official title of the puzzle set is "FMTC". This initialism can ambiguously be read as either "from muddied/muddled to clean/clear" as seen on the front page of the puzzle set.
