Killer Darts

(Eingestellt am 14. Juni 2023, 17:40 Uhr von BenTen)

Not too long ago, I went with a group of friends to a darts bar. Combining alcohol with darts sounds like a recipe for disaster, but we had a great time and our hour and a half slot was quickly over. We weren't of the highest caliber. For example, everyone whooped and cheered when, after many attempts, one of our group managed to finally hit the board!
Anyway, it got me thinking - the booze probably made the thought massively better than the reality - that darts has numbers, and so does sudoku, so let's put the two together!
In the puzzle, the circle of numbers represent the numbers on a dartboard and the odd circles and even squares are supposed to represent both players' last three darts. (Not in any of our games. Far too good for us!)
Hope you enjoy stepping up to the oche!

Rules:

  • Normal sudoku rules apply.
  • Digits in grey circles must be odd. Digits in grey squares must be even.
  • The circle of numbers represents the outside border of a dartboard. These numbers are killer clues, each with their own cage. Digits within a cage sum to the number clue given within that cage. Digits must not repeat within a cage.
  • Two killer cages have been provided, but the remainder need to be determined by the solver. All cells within a cage are orthogonally connected. Cages cannot overlap each other. All cages lie on the dartboard (inside the circle of numbers), but must not include any odd/even cells or any cells highlighted in red.
  • Cells highlighted in red represent the bullseye and sum to 50.

I do love these combinations of Sudoku with a popular game or sport. And this one is an elegant example. Thank you so much for sharing!
