HalfBakedLunatic this is a brilliant puzzle but oh my is it ever difficult. I think probably in a personal ranking the hardest sudoku I've ever solved. I certainly may have missed some of the intended logic however, as at a couple of points I did resort to 'what-ifs' which felt like I was probably crossing the line into bifurcating - both at the point of trying to decide what digits were on the PR, and then later which combo made up the 14 cage. If you do have any notes on the intended path you could share I'd love to see them. I was also hoping doing this puzzle might give me some clues to help with Surgical Incision - but having now finished it it's not clear that that is the case. I've also spent a decent amount of time on it and almost feel like it's even harder! I'm obviously aware you can only have 1 digit not in the PR if there's a diagonal (or anti-knight) constraint, and if you do it'll be in R5C5 - but I wonder if there's even a level of logic beyond that I'm just not aware of. Anyway - sorry for the length and thanks again!

-- Thank you BloodbuzzCorio, I'm glad you persevered and got through it :-)
Honestly, I was getting annoyed that a few puzzles I thought were exceedingly difficult were getting rated with 3 stars, everyone thought they were too easy! So I was just trying my damndest to make a puzzle that was brutally hard, but you are correct - it's not as 'elegant' of a solution path as I'd like. I did put the 2 in the center, it has a unique solution without that - but then it really does get to the realm of requiring bifurcation. I'd say to skip "Surgical Incision" (I should delete this one) and go straight to "Surgical Excision". I had to shuffle a few things around, so it's not as perfectly symmetrical, but it's the better solution path.

-- [edit] Sorry I see that you did solve Surgical Excision and we even traded comments! My initial intention was to have one with palindrome, one with renban, and one with German Whispers - with the only difference being the killer cage sums and the even/odd digits - but I couldn't make it work!
