SHADING: Cells containing values exactly one greater than an immediate neighbour (diagonally or orthogonally) within their box are shaded. All the shaded cells are given.

ANTI-KNIGHT: Cells a knight's move apart cannot contain the same digit.

Otherwise standard Sudoku rules apply.

Couldn't see how to get started at first. Then I did the other puzzle mentioned by ATK in the comments and this one suddenly became very easy.

---Good for you. Thanks for the solve and the comment. ---ATK

I am really enjoying the shaded restrictions! I wasn't getting it at first, but when I tried the other puzzle you suggested, it made so much sense! So I agree it is a 1 star for people who know the condition and 2 stars for those who don't :p
Thank you so much

I'm glad you've been converted!

The consecutive rule is a bit tricky to get your head around, but after that it's smooth sailing. I always enjoy this kind of knight's move puzzle.

For those unfamiliar with the rule can you clarify? Take the starting 4 given. Does that mean the 3 touching cells in box 7 must have at least one 3 or 5? Or both 3 and 5? And then the 3rd touching cell needs to be 3 or 5? I've just not seen this rule set so don't understand what it means.

---
There must be a 3 (in box 7) that touches the 4.

With respect to the restrictions on 5s: 5 cannot fall in either row 7 col 1 OR row 9 col 1 as both of those cells are shaded, contradicting the given rule. Otherwise 5 can fall anywhere else in box 7.

Hope that helps.

Somewhat. any chance you have a sample grid following the rule maybe a 6x6 or some such? I don't feel like I understand what the constraint(s) are.

---No, I'm afraid not, but it might be worth trying one of my other puzzles that DON'T include the anti-knight constraint, for example https://logic-masters.de/Raetselportal/Raetsel/zeigen.php?id=000C64

Appreciated, I genuinely do NOT understand the rule about the shaded digits and your explanation didn't help. Will check the other puzzle.

Look at this completed grid.

(EDIT: Damn! Now I see that I need help -- I have no idea how to post an image in the comments. You might be able to decipher the contect so I'll leave the comment))

Some examples:
The 9 in r1c1 is shaded because it it next to the 8 in r2c1. (9 is one more than 8).

Meanwhile the 6 in r1c3 is unshaded BECAUSE it is not next to the 5 in its box (6 is one more than 5).

Notice that the 7 in r3c6 is unshaded, but it is next to a 6 (in r3c7). However the 7 is unshaded because that 6 is not in the same box as that particular 7.

In this puzzle all the shading has been given, it is up to the solver to place the digits so that they are coherent with the given shading.

Hope that helps. Good luck.
---ATK

Honestly no. Maybe see my comment on the other puzzle you linked? I genuinely just am not understanding the rule about shading and the implication. Do you have a hyperlink to the grid you were trying to post.

Nice puzzle, but a difficulty of 1 only applies IF the solver has strong familiarity with the two relevant variants.

---
That's a good point. I actually initialized it at a 2-star rating, but those who solved it determined its current 1-star rating.

Nice puzzle. Quite easy if you are familiar with the ruleset. If not, it takes some thoughts to find the start.
