Not in sum

(Eingestellt am 16. April 2023, 21:45 Uhr von bigger)

This puzzle doesn’t have a link, feel free to skip my puzzle, you won’t miss anything.

Standard sudoku rules applies. Fill the grid with numbers from 1 to 9 so each digit occurs exactly once in every row, column and 3x3 box.

Clues outside is the sum of the first x digits from that direction, where x is the first digit the clue sees.

All digits which is not in the first x digits in each direction are given. For instance, if the x-sum is 21 and 2 is in the first x digits, then the outside clue would only shows 1.

An interesting variant, a product after a considerable amount of x-sum variant i set. The thing is, 6x6 x-sum have way too many hidden rules than 9x9, which i might show at some time. There must be a mathematical explanation for this but who am i kidding, i’m not skilled in that way.

Another question is that why only show the not there clues. Simple, 45 is a double digit clues, which means by doing this, the outside clues will be jagged with uneven clues, which would be harder to sort out the clues type. It’s not good for the solver or me to set.

Spoiler alert. I may not want to repeat this in another puzzle so i might as well say it here. For 6x6, 1 is important because of the narrow range of the sum. For 9X9, it’s 0 because the range is wide enough to stuck in a tens digit. This give birth to a question, if it’s 0.5 to 4.5 instead of 1 to 9, is 1 more important or 5 more important? Maybe i’ll find out one day.

Lösungscode: Row 6 and column 5(18 digits)

A very interesting puzzle overall with lots of unusual and satisfying deductions! It didn't really appear to be so obvious how to approach at first but careful notes really helped me a lot throughout.
(Also it took me too long to realize that this puzzle has a 'negative constraint' in it)

A small question: so by definition of the outside clues, does 33 sum work for a 3 clue for example?

bigger:it doesn't. but would it matter though. think of it this way. a 3 means -3 or 3-, how big influence would ot have by excluding one possibility? or in other terms, why chose to deal with those clues in the first place
