Blackout

(Eingestellt am 1. April 2023, 16:32 Uhr von Jay Dyer)

Rules

  • Normal sudoku rules apply.
  • Cells are initially covered in fog, and placing correct digits will clear the fog around those digits.
  • Mark nine cells such that there is one marked cell in each house (row/column/box). The digit in the first cell of a house gives the position of the marked cell in that house. Each digit appears in exactly one marked cell.
  • Adjacent digits on a green line differ by at least 5.

Example If R5C9 were a marked cell, then R5C1 would be a 9 and R1C9 would be 5. As R5C9 is the sixth cell in its box (counting left-to-right, top-to-bottom), R4C7 would be a 6.

Solve in Sudokupad.

Lösungscode: Column 8 and row 9.

Started to see this video on CTC, the rules were interesting. SO, I stopped watching and started to solve. The logic was excellent, and I have taken around 90 minutes to solve. I have solved around a hundred puzzles in this website, almost every puzzle is 1 star. This is the first 3 star puzzle that I have solved. Nice logic and wonderful puzzle.

Added an example for the indexing rule.

Yeah this needs an example. I managed to place two digits correctly by sheer luck, misunderstanding the rules.

Very nice puzzle, but the instructions should be more clear. There should be an example. I couldn't understand the directions until there was an example given on CtC's youtube

The marked cell extra region makes this a wonderful logical solve. Enjoyed every minute.

Wow, what an excellent puzzle! It's highly underrated at the moment. Such beautiful logic, fun deductions throughout. Thank you for sharing!

This is a puzzle to see - just a brilliant conception with excellent execution. Being colour-blind and selecting a bad scheme of colouring before I had understood the logic I missed the point at first. This is not just a visually stunning puzzle - any serious solver (or setter) should take a look at the grid and the rules - it is also a lovely puzzle to solve.

The name of this rule set can be named after the name of the puzzle she once published. "House Numbering"
https://logic-masters.de/Raetselportal/Raetsel/zeigen.php?id=000BT2

Having said that, it would be a pity that this puzzle was scored so low. But the reason may be that...there are many people who come into contact with this rule set for the first time, and they don't know much about the hidden rules related to break-in under this rule set.
This is just a possible guess as I've been in the same situation once.

Enjoyed it. Nice rule set of house indexing. Does this rule set has some name?
