Battleship Prime

(Eingestellt am 11. Januar 2023, 16:46 Uhr von SenatorGronk)

Rules
  • Standard sudoku rules apply
  • The grid has 10 ships in orthogonal lines: 1 that is 1x4 cells, 2 that are 1x3, 3 that are 1x2 and 4 that are 1x1. The digits in each ship sum to a different prime number (1 is not prime).
  • Diamonds are islands and indicate the combined number of ship cells in their row and column. Ships do not touch islands or each other -- even diagonally.
  • Region Sum Lines: Lines have the same sum within each 3x3 box they enter and may include both ship and water cells.

"Lines have the same sum" - every line has the same sum in every box, or each line has its own sum that is the same in every box?

——-
Sorry — normal region sum lines. That is, for each line the sum of the digits within each 3x3 box is the same. Different lines can have different sums. Ex: R1C3 = R2C4 + R3C4 = R4C5 + R5C5

quite an unusual break-in. i'd say it was pretty hard to unwind

So that line actually was a clue, interesting ;) I cannot get beyond the initial coloring, not even one pencil mark

None of the lines are necessary to figure out where the ships go, they're just needed to disambiguate digits down the road, and yeah -- I realized the puzzle could be solved without that fourth line so I removed it. Ping me on the CtC Discord server if you'd like a nudge.
