Sandwich Cages

Normal Sudoku rules apply.
Digits in cages must not repeat.
The number in the top corner of each cage indicates the sum of all digits sandwiched in-between the smallest and largest digit in the cage.
Note: After designing this puzzle I learned that this exact ruleset idea has been used before. Despite not knowing about it while setting, credit to this ruleset goes to @Undar_Beyond

Not sure I understand the ruleset as it is described. If you have a three-cell cage and no digits can repeat, there must be a middle digit, so how can a cage sum of sandwiched digits in that case be 0?
