Islands and Bridges

F-Puzzles

Standard Sudoku Rules apply to the final numerical layout.

The grid is mapped out into six islands (they may or may not be visibly surrounded by water, but they are islands, I assure you) and water separating them. There are NO 2x2 regions on either land or water.

LAND: No two islands are the same size (number of cells), and digits do not repeat on any one island. Islands do not touch each other, even diagonally.

Each island has a caged cell: The digit in this cell indicates the size of the island.

WATER: All water cells are orthogonally connected to all other water cells on the map.

BRIDGES: Bridges are renban lines (a set of consecutive digits, no repeats, in any order), with the highest digit in the center (the arch of the bridge). Bridges are placed solidly on land at both ends, and cross water in the middle. No two bridges have the same set of digits.

All islands are connected by bridge (there are no stranded islands), and there are no redundant bridges (no bridge connects two parts of its own land mass, and no two land masses are connected to each other by more than one bridge).

CIRCLES: The digit in a circle is the total number of cells of the opposite type that it can see orthogonally. For example, if the cell is a water cell, its digit indicates how many land cells it can see looking up, down, left, and right.

Wow! That was double satisfaction for me. Firstly the interactions and how every bridge, island and water square helps with the deductions of the numbers, circles and regions. Secondly I feel a lot of satisfaction because it is my first attempt at one of these "snake/continuous region" puzzles. I have been a litte afraid of them. But to find a 2-star puzzle of this kind and feeling it really is approachable for a first-timer - and then getting through it. That made me smile :). Thanks a lot!

*** Well, then it's a good thing I couldn't make my harder version work, ha ha. Glad you enjoyed it!
