Numbered Rooms Sudoku

This puzzle was inspired by one of the puzzles in Ctc's recent 'approachable pencil puzzles' video, called 'Numbered Rooms'. I decided to make a sudoku with that ruleset, and I enjoyed it, so I might make more. I would love to know what you think of it!
By the way, I don't know if this type of rule is always called 'Numbered Rooms', or if that was the name of that particular puzzle. I can't seem to find any more of them online. I also don't know for sure if this ruleset has been combined with sudoku before, but I don't think I have seen one. Please tell me if you know the answers to these questions.
And last but not least: Have fun!
Rules:
Normal sudoku rules apply.
Clues outside the grid equal the Xth digit in their row/column seen from the side of the clue, with X being the 1st digit in their row/column seen from the side of the clue.

Nice to see another puzzle of this interesting variant!
Especially liked that some other techniques are required in the solve than in SVS #265.
The new-tag is not very appropriate anymore I guess? ;-)

It's #265 in Richards SVS. It has also been used (with Sudoku regions) for WSC 2019 and in WPF Grand Prix rounds. Regarding the general ruleset without regions, the earliest example I can remember is from WPC 2015 in Bulgaria.
However, it's not overused and worth a few more puzzles in my opinion :-)
