Hidden in Plain Sight

(Eingestellt am 29. September 2021, 21:37 Uhr von mathpesto)

I created this rather silly puzzle on August 1, 2021. I'm fairly new to constructing puzzles, so I'd appreciate any feedback. Hope you enjoy it!

Rules:

Normal sudoku rules apply.

Sandwich: GREEN numbers outside the grid indicate the sum of the digits between X and Y in that row/column, where X and Y must be found.

Skyscraper: Numbers in the grid represent the heights of skyscrapers. RED numbers outside the grid indicate the amount of visible skyscrapers in that row/column as seen from that vantage point.

Arrow: Each pill contains a 2- or 3-digit number which is the sum of the digits along its arrow.

Puzzle:

Lösungscode: Enter row 7 (left to right) and column 7 (top to bottom)——18 digits, no spaces

Ich habe die Idee hinter dem Rätsel leider auch erst verstanden, als ich die Kommentare gelesen habe. Wer mathpestos Spoiler nicht lesen möchte achte mal darauf, welche Zahlen die Randhinweise zusammen bilden.

@Droi Glad you liked it!

*SPOILER ALERT*

The silly part is that the outside clues in red and green spell out the numbers 81, 126, and 171——the same numbers that go in the three arrows' pills. Hence some of the puzzle's answers are "hidden in plain sight". That's also why there were more "1" skyscraper clues than there would normally be. :)

Nice puzzle. Not sure why you think it's silly, definitely took a lot of work to solve it.

Next time might want to give fewer 1-hints for skyscrapers as they are fairly straightforward, a better way is give other hints that limit the possible places for the 9 skyscrapers on the edges and let the player deduce.

This was not easy for me. The arrows and skyscrapers are simple, but figuring out X and Y was really hard. It took me about an hour, but I enjoyed every second.

Thanks!
