When A=1, and D=4, then DAD=414
A fully filled Sudoku grid sums to 405, but 4+0+5=9. When you add this 9 to the 405, you get 414. That's what DAD does, he makes it work, even though it does not make sense. You don't question DAD, how weird his rules may be. And 4+1+4=9, so there you go.
So, what are DAD rules?
Besides the normal Sudoku rules, there are Killer cages.
These killer cages sum to either 1, 4, 14 or 41. Digits can not repeat.
The grey highlighted 4s are seperate regions which sum to 45, because 41+4=45
The grey highlighted 1 sums to 18, because 4+14=18
Within cages, white dots appear when there is a difference of 1 or 4 between two adjacent cells. These white dots are only found within cages, not between cages. In this way, there is a negative constraint for the white dots.

Contrarily to @PixelPlucker, I made heavy use of the 45 regions at the beginning, which felt like a way more complex logical path than I could have found. But that's just how DAD is. He sounds way more elite than he really is. That's what makes him an awesome DAD.

DAD might be weird, but has company was enjoyable, for sure. Nice puzzle.
