Compass Sudoku

(Eingestellt am 16. Juli 2020, 14:54 Uhr von stephane.bura)

Normal Sudoku rules apply.

Split the grid into orthogonally connected regions, one for each compass (a cell containing a cross). The digit in the cell above a compass conveys information about the number of cells within the region that lie above the compass, regardless of horizontal position. The other digits work analogously for cells to the right, below and to the left of the compass.

  • If the digit's value is 1, 2, 3, 4 or 5, it is the number of cells within that region in that direction.
  • If it is 6 or 7, no cells of that region can be in that direction.
  • If it is 8 or 9, any number of cells, including 0, of that region can be in that direction.

The digit in the cell containing the compass has no additional meaning.
The digits around a compass don't need to belong to its region.
Regions within which digits don't repeat are marked with a circle around their compasses.
The compass regions must cover the whole grid.

Note: This is a re-upload as @stefliew noticed that there was an ambiguity in the previous version and helped me fix it. Enjoy!

Lösungscode: The digits of the region containing the top right corner cell of the grid, from left to right, top to bottom.

I unfortunately still don't understand the rules. Can someone kindly explain how the numbers 2, 4, 3 and 7 around the compass in the orange region work?
---
Sure:
There are 2 cells in the region above the 9 (2 and 7).
There are 4 cells in the region to the right of the 9 (7, 4, 6 and 5).
There are 3 cells in the region below the 9 (3, 6 and 5).
There are no cells in the region to the left of the 9, indicated by the 7.
Furthermore, because of the circle, all the digits in this region are different.

You're an absolute star, thank you! I can't wait to try it! :-)

It’s a great problem, but it was ignored by most people. It’s a pity!
