@RockyRoer: AFAIK, the "whispers" super-category started with a single type: Chinese Whispers Sudoku, whose name was derived from the children's game, and in which adjacent digits on a line can only differ by 1 or 2.

Ch. Seeliger (@Realshaggy) then created a sudoku for the World Championships in Germany, which he named German Whispers because it was similar to Chinese Whispers (difference ≥5 instead of ≤2) and because that particular puzzle featured lines in the form of Germany (as its borders on a map).

Now, "whispers" has evolved to mean any kind of constraint on adjacent digits along a line.

@RockyRoer After German whispers I also saw prime whispers (adjacent digits sum to a prime) so I guess I took the ‘adjacents on a grey line’ element and named my puzzle with that in mind!

Sorry, this probably isn't the best place to ask, but what does "Whisper" refer to in sudoku? I had thought it was a joke refering to German "Whispers" and figured Germans talk loud and that's why the differences were so large, but now i've seen "Whisper" not in terms of differences at all. And a google search of whisper sudoku just brings up dozens of creepy videos of people doing what appears to be normal sudoku while whispering. Is that a thing?

@Washyleopard I think it would be a bit unfair to post hints in the open here! Unless there’s a way of spoiler tagging them!

Love the idea behind this puzzle. Stared at your first puzzle for awhile before figuring out the trick that makes it pretty simple. Speaking of which, is it against the rules to post tricks/ tips to solving puzzles?
