Chaos Construction

(Published on 21. April 2020, 00:27 by Phistomefel)

This puzzle is an experimental one. It is a Chaos Sudoku, in which the shape of the regions must first be found with the help of clues.

In every row and column, each digit from 1 to 9 occurs exactly once. In addition, there are 9 continuous regions in which each digit from 1 to 9 occurs exactly once. These regions however are only given indirectly.

An arrow in a cell indicates that an uninterrupted sequence of exactly X cells in the direction of the arrow - beginning at the cell with the arrow - belong to the same area. Here, X is the digit in the cell with the arrow. If there is another cell after the sequence of X cells in the direction of the arrow, it must belong to a different region. Not all arrows are given, which would be possible with the shape of the regions.

In the example below, the 1 in the cell with the downward pointing arrow indicates that the cell below belongs to a different region.

This puzzle is probably the most difficult one I created so far, but it has a purely logical solution path. The puzzle is now also available online via Penpa Plus. Have fun solving!

Solution code: The diagonal from top left to bottom right, then the diagonal from bottom left to top right.

Great puzzle. Tortuous though finding the regions was, solving the sudoku itself was even harder for me. Also, many shading dilemmas in this puzzle.

Hey peacherwu2! Yes, it is okay. You can take a look at the example puzzle. There is an arrow pointing to the right and a 2 in R3C1. R3C1 and R3C2 are both inside of the region, then there is an interruption, but R3C4 is in the same region again.

After the sequence of length X is interrupted by a different region, is it Okay to come back afterward in the same direction?

Remember back when this was one of the hardest puzzles you'd ever made? Good times :D

@Circleconstant314: As r45 already said, not all possible arrows are given. I will point it out in the rules. Thank you!

@Circleconstant314: Not all possible arrows are given.

on 21. April 2020, 13:01 by Circleconstant314
Are all possible arrows given here? The rules don't say anything about this.

I really like this type of variation, which is challenging and not too difficult for the first question.
