Greatest Lies

(Published on 2. November 2026, 18:49 by marty_sears)

This episode of Liar Cells has been brought to you in collaboration with Dorlir, the inventor of the 'Greatest Line'!

Rules:

Normal sudoku rules apply.

LIAR CELLS: Every row, column and 3x3 box contains one liar cell, whose real value is different from its digit.

• Every liar cell contains a different digit from 1-9.
• Every liar cell has a different value from 1-9.

GREATEST LINES: One cell on each olive line contains the greatest value on that line, which is greater than the sum of any other pair of values on that line.

BLACK DOTS: If a black dot sits between two cells, the value of one is double the value of the other.

X: If an X sits between two cells, their values sum to 10.

NOTES: In each green arrow, enter the liar digit for its row, and in the circle to its right, write its real value.

Solution code: VALUES in column 9, reading downwards

This puzzle is great. Marty Sears is great of course. I am also great, because I am feeling great after having solved this great puzzle from a great constructer :)

Marty: much of this puzzle is down to Dorlir's greatness!

This series just gets better and better. This was quite a tricky one but absolutely beautiful.

Amazing. Quite a lot of build up before it started giving in, had a great time, thanks!

Definitely easier than Index Lies but still quite a challenge, with interesting logical steps all the way to the very end!

What a pleasure to solve. The last one was humbling, this one restored my faith in my abilities. Challenging throughout but I was able to find enough deductions throughout the solve process.

Great! If you have ever battled with these constraints individually, this is not too hard. A very fun and rewarding solve. Thanks

This is a decent puzzle, but giving it five stars seems a bit excessive. After all, the earlier imitation of the robot line puzzle is still blue at this point in time. Personally, I think this puzzle is about three stars. If you don't understand the rules, you might get stuck at the beginning.

Is this the greatest greatest line? If so, it could be the greatest greatest greatest line puzzle!

I like the way that the Liar Cell Series lies about the chronological order!
This one (the sixth) does not disappoint.

Marty: Hehe I've tried to order them in approximate order of difficulty

Fantastic puzzle and quite hard for me. I just can't grok liars for some reason.
