Dutch Flat Mates: Beyond 159

(Published yesterday, 07:00 by goodcity)

If you are interested in the Dutch Flat Mates series created by Flinty, you can find the others here.

Special Thanks to Flinty
What a ride it’s been, mate! Three years of Dutch Flat Mates, with a new puzzle every week. It’s been an absolute pleasure being part of this adventure and testing all those puzzles along the way. One great chapter comes to a close, but there are surely more adventures to come, mate!

Normal sudoku rules apply.

  • Dutch Flats : Every 5 in the grid must have a '1' directly above it or a '9' directly below it. It may have both, but it doesn't need both.

  • Beyond 159 : A digit in a red cell in column X indicates the position of the digit X in the corresponding row. All possible red cells are given.

The puzzle is available online via CTC-App

Hint to start

Start by combining the negative constraint with the fact that indexing works in both directions.

Solution code: Row 9

Very nice! Definitely one of those constraints where you go: "eh?" ... "ohhhhhhh!". It has been a pleasure. x
