Polar Arrows

Digits are not repeated in rows, columns, or regions. The grid is divided into nine regions, each consisting of orthogonally connected cells containing the digits 1-9.

A digit on an arrow indicates the number of the uninterrupted run of cells immediately beyond the arrow, in the arrow's direction, that belong to the same region as the arrow cell. Digits of 4 or greater indicate the count in the opposite direction.

Digits separated by a white dot are consecutive.

Solution code: Row 9, with a "+" between digits of different regions

When I first read the rules, I started to go looking for another puzzle. Didn't like that 4+ reverse thing at all.

I'm very glad I tried this out. I loved it. Interesting deductions to be had!

Once I understood the rule that sent arrows backwards, this was so much fun to work through, great setting!

Does the "count in the opposite direction" include the arrow cell for values greater than 4? I assumed not, but then got to a point that it was contradictory.

Vythic: Yes it says "4 or greater" in the rules.

Catsfanuk87: Yes, I see that, but I meant is the *arrow cell* included in the count or not.

Vythic: Oh I see. To my mind an arrow would never include itself unless explicitly stated.

Very nice!
A somewhat daunting rule set, until it wasn't, really. Great fun.
